Forest Friends Baby Blanket :: The Beginning

Thank you so much everyone for your help in choosing the blanket colours in the last post!!!! As you can see from the above photo, I went with using the colours from the registry as the inspiration. I started it today, and I'm really happy with how it is going so far. I'm using Bernat Satin yarn since its nice and soft and should wash and wear well. I had originally wanted to use Caron Simply Soft, but I couldn't find the right colours. The yarn is crocheting up really nicely though, so it's all good. This really is a fun little hooky project!! The ripples just seem to flow off my hook and I get such a thrill out of the colour changes that it makes it just seem to fly right along.

Right now I am staying at my sister's house for a few days! I came up here last night and will be here until Sunday. It's been nice to have access to high-speed Internet, and a quiet house today to just relax and work on the blanket. Tomorrow my Mom is bringing my puppy Emerson up to stay with us. We are all very excited for that! She is the sweetest little girl and so much fun. She loves her Uncle J and Auntie S and will be so excited to see them. I am very much looking forward to spending some quality time with my sister and her husband over the weekend. I'm sure there will be lots of knitting/crocheting and chatting going on! What could be better than that?

Have a good Thursday evening everyone!!

Much Love, xx

  1. How're you keeping track of the sts count? I'm still working on the first dc row of that scarf after starting over twice b/c I didn't have the required # of sts afterwards. I marked every 20 but maybe I wasn't paying enough attention while dcing and so missed sts each time?
I like the colors! Bold and light. Just like a forest!

  2. I look forward to seeing all those colors come together. They are beautiful!

I love that we share a love for Lucy from Attic21 and crocheting blankets. It is so much fun to watch what you are doing. Wait until you see my giant granny square blanket. It has gotten HUGE and I'm not done yet!

  3. Stefanie - for this blanket, I find that the pattern makes you know easily where you are and the stitch count stays consistent, which is nice. I'm sorry to hear your scarf is misbehaving! I made that same one before from the Stitch and Bitch book, but it's been a while, so I don't remember how I kept track of all the stitches. I'm sending you all my good thoughts for it though! The colour you chose is gorgeous by the way.
