Hello blog readers,
Today is a bit cloudy, but the sun is still shining through. That's one thing I find great about this tropical weather, it's not usually cloudy or grey for long periods of time. I heard that at home they've had some rather wild weather - snow, wind, rain, etc. I'm very glad we are here and not there right now.
Our time with my sister visiting has been going great! We've had fun catching up, swimming in the pool, watching Christmas movies, etc. Girl time is always a good thing. And now S and her husband are going to be coming down for Christmas! We are beyond excited about that. I've always wanted to spend Christmas in a tropical place so this is like a dream come true for me. Mom and I are going to have fun planning the menus, we've already been chatting about it over tea this morning.
I need to get working on my Christmas gift list soon, although I'm cutting way back this year, we all are, which is a good thing. It makes Christmas much less stressful. And this year I'd like Christmas to be a happy and stress-free holiday, as it should be, with emphasis on the real Reason for the season and not all the do, do, do that usually takes over. We are thinking simple and laid back. It will be a nice break from what it has been the last few years.
Have any of you started your holiday planning yet? I think I'm a little late this year, but it's better late then never, right?

I planned last year to knit Christmas gifts this year but said forget it. I don't usually shop for Christmas gifts until after Thanksgiving, especially when ppl have gone back to work.
ReplyDeleteI had planned similar, but decided that it's not worth the stress. I really want to enjoy this Christmas, and one of the ways was by cutting out unnecessary stress. I know everyone in my family will be happy to get a store bought gift this year anyways, so it all works out.
DeleteI'm been a bit of a last minute shopper, but I think I'm going to start being on the lookout for gifts now so I'll be ready.
What you said about how we should enjoy the small, special things about Christmas instead of getting caught up in the things that society has told us we have to do, reminded me of the Little House on the Prairie. They were happy with an orange, some pennies and other small gifts at Christmas. Nowadays, we take those things for granted, and I agree with what you say about how we need to just enjoy each others' company and not get so caught up in stuff.
ReplyDeleteWell said Jessica! Funny thing is, I always wanted to have a Little House on the Prairie Christmas when I was a kid. I really think that the Season has been turned into such a big stressful thing that hardly anyone enjoys it anymore. My hope is that this year we get back to the basics.
DeleteThere are many beautiful places in this world. It is impossible to visit all of them. But you can be there to some which contains everything in it. There are beaches, hills, mountains and many other things. It is just that you must have a felling to explore things and you must like travelling to explore all these things. You can gather many memorable moments if you are fun loving.
